Melissa and Doug Dollhouse – All Day Fun for Your Daughters

I didn’t grow up with dollhouses, especially the Melissa and Doug Dollhouse kind. My fascination with them started when I first saw a dollhouse while shopping for gifts. That was my first encounter with a dollhouse of any kind. I wondered how I could have missed something like that during my childhood. The Melissa and Doug doll house I saw that day was intricately detailed. From that day on I was  sort of hooked.

I bought one and took it home. It came with two dolls with movable arms and legs (this instantly brought me back to my Barbie days), Well designed storage areas in the house, and detailed furniture.  The best part about this dollhouse from Melissa Doug was that I was able to share it with my kids and use it as a bonding mechanism. My children keep asking me to go back and buy them a new dollhouses. As a novice, I had a lot to learn; while shopping for the next doll house, I consulted with a store assistant.

There are two kinds of Melissa & Doug dollhouses. My favorite being the wooden ones with three stories, five very large (by dollhouse standards –of course) rooms, movable staircases and movable doors. Not to mention the hand painted finish. The one I bought for my youngest daughter had two dolls and 11 pieces of wooden furniture. Needless to say my daughter loved it.

Mellissa and Doug Toys provide a great way for me to bond with my children and to be part of their development. I’ve been able to teach them a lot of responsibilities such as how to keep a proper house and how to clean up after playing. It’s also a great way to just bond with them, especially after I’ve had a rough day and I’m looking for a light activity for my children.
